Usually it does. Without the ID protection all the personal details of an owner and admin/tech contacts are publicly exposed in WHOIS database. The ID protection service hides your details from public registries. For some TLDs (like .au) it is not possible to hide the details due to TLD's policies.
Important: The ID Protection service hides personal details or replaces them with anonymous ones in the public databases, but it does not remove the details from the actual domain records.
